AIOCS directors Doru Costache and Wagdy Samir attended the online ANZATS (the Australian and New Zealand Association of Theological Studies) 2023 Conference “Context & Tradition.” They presented papers for various thematic sections, Samir on “The Theological Anthropology of Father Matta Al-Miskin, a Contemporary Coptic Orthodox Desert Father,” and Costache on “Engaging Science Theologically: Lessons from John Chrysostom’s Apophatic Stances.” Costache also co-convened the “Faith & Science” stream, which included thirteen presentations.
Both Costache and Samir submitted applications for the various awards of ANZATS, the former for the Established Scholar Book Prize and the latter for the New and Emerging Scholar Prize. Both have been finalists of the respective contests, as documented below. This is a great outcome and a welcomed recognition for their academic contributions.
