Forthcoming Books

AIOCS Press announces the upcoming publication of two new volumes.

One is the translation into Romanian of Doru Costache’s highly successful Reading the Scriptures in the Orthodox Church: The Sunday Cycle, originally published in 2018. The volume is a catechetical aid meant to assist the diligent believer to contemplate the messages of each Sunday in the liturgical year. The author’s assumption is that the yearly cycle of scriptural readings represents an implicit form of ongoing catechism, the task of both believers and preachers being to identify the common ground of the two readings prescribed for any given Sundays, and then to meditate on this finding as the message of those particular Sundays.

The Romanian version, in the author’s own translation, presents the original content in a slightly revised format, with several interventions made in order to bring the book’s message closer to the experience of Romanian readers.

The other volume is Costache‘s A Diary with Saint Gregory the Theologian (provisional title), containing reflections on the saint’s autobiographical poems. The author wrote down these reflections from the late 2017 to the mid-2020. Stay tuned!
